课题组负责人华中科技大学学士，普林斯顿大学博士。珠江人才计划领军人才。历任美国能源部橡树岭国家实验室博士后，佛蒙特大学助理教授和副教授 (Tenured)，中山大学教授。曾在麻省理工学院和南洋理工大学担任访问学者。从事基础设施材料，人工智能，文物保护相关工作。

       Prof. Tan obtained bachelor from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and PhD from Princeton University. He has been a postdoctoral research associate at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, assistant professor and associate professor with tenure at University of Vermont, and professor at Sun Yat-Sen University.  He has been visiting scholars in MIT and Nanyang Technological University. His research focuses on materials and mechanics related to infrastructure,  artificial inteligence, and cultural heritage conservation.
